Luxembourg Air Rescue, emergency air medical service and Widoo member – Testimonial
Founded in 1988, Luxembourg Air Rescue (LAR) has established itself as a key player in the field ofairborne emergency medical services. Recently, this non-profit organization decided to join the Widoo collaborative purchasing group, marking a strategic turning point in its approach to procurement. Why was this crucial decision taken? What benefits do they hope to derive from this collaboration? To answer these questions, we interviewed LAR representatives. In this article, you’ll discover their answers about why they decided to join the Widoo collaborative purchasing group, and the benefits they expect to derive from it.
Can you summarize in a few words the activity of your company?
Founded in 1988, Luxembourg Air Rescue (LAR) has around 185,000 members and currently operates seven rescue helicopters, two Airbus H145 D3s and five MD902s. Through its operating subsidiary Luxembourg Air Ambulance (LAA), LAR also operates five state-of-the-art ambulance jets, including three Learjet 45XRs and two Challenger 605s. LAR’s mission is to save the lives and preserve the health of people in distress through the use of rescue helicopters and ambulance jets – in Luxembourg, the Greater Region and worldwide. With around 190 employees, LAR ensures the highest standards in the fields of medicine, technology and air operations, and is available 24/7 via its alarm center.
Why did you decide to join the Widoo collaborative purchasing group?
We decided to join the Widoo network, because we are convinced that by pooling purchasing needs, a common benefit can be achieved for all concerned. As a not-for-profit organization, dependent on membership fees and donor support, Luxembourg Air Rescue (LAR) is largely self-financing. For this reason, it is essential for LAR to ensure that it always obtains the best possible terms and conditions for its purchases, in order to guarantee economical use of the resources at its disposal. In this way, we can best support our mission for the benefit of our members and patients.
What advantages do you think you’ll find?
We hope to benefit from more advantageous conditions, as well as improved access to certain product groups.
By participating in the collaborative purchasing group, we hope to achieve a number of benefits for our non-profit organization. Cooperation between participating companies enables us to achieve higher purchasing volumes. We hope to benefit not only from more advantageous conditions, but also from better access to certain product groups that are difficult for individual small and medium-sized companies to access. In addition, by coordinating purchasing activities and working with professional, experienced buyers, we expect to save time in planning and carrying out purchasing activities. Finally, through its participation in Widoo, Luxembourg Air Rescue wishes to encourage collaboration with other Luxembourg organizations and companies, support the local economy and contribute to maximum efficiency for all its members.
